Hello and happy January! 2017 has arrived and it is definitely a year that has a lot of us wondering and planning, dreaming and doing already!
I think that so many of us are thinking to either start fresh or refine what we are doing, and that is exactly what 2017 is going to look like here too. It is so easy to sometimes get entirely amped up with new possibilities of the year, and fill up our calendars to the brim and stack goals one on top of another, to make to do lists a mile long and say "on January 1st, everything changes", but let's be honest. Big changes take time. Small changes even take time. Instead of thinking that we need to do #allthethings differently starting in January, perhaps make that huge goal list, but then choose to implement changes for one or two things - instead of turning all you are used to on it's head and stressing yourself or giving up. So this month, pick ONE thing you want to change. Only one! Say, if I could do just this one thing this month, this would make me jump for joy if I said yes to this instead of that. If I learned this this month, instead of moving into the next month wishing I could do something I've been wanting to learn for a while, this would make me giddy. Choose one for business if you're a business owner, and one for personal. So two total. Are you up to that? I think you could be! I would love for you to leave a comment below so that I can encourage you on your one or two goals you choose!
This one decision actually led me to this months design, believe it or not! One thing I want to do for my brides and grooms is create watercolor backgrounds for invitation designs and it is something that I have loved learning lately. So, designwise for January, I drew and digitally "painted" the background for this months set using my branding colors - after all, this palette is definitely my favorite to work with :)
I am also in the process of creating something with it which will be making it's debut in the weeks ahead as something special, but for now, I will leave you guessing at what it could be. Feel free to comment below to try and see if you can figure out what I may be creating with it next! (and hint hint ... if you head over to Instagram (by clicking here!) and check out my #2016bestnine post, that is a huge giveaway as to what is in the works! )
Being the start of the year and thinking about all sorts of new possibilities is what led me to this month's scripture design. I feel like God has been softly speaking to me for a while now, and this verse has continually popped up over the last year. Something tells me I may not be the only one here either.
"Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."
I think that this verse is only one small part in the book of Isaiah, but it's almost like he knew it was exactly what people needed to hear. It reminds us that He is there, He is making a path and that those who look to Him will find renewed strength and peace as they walk through life. And something tells me this is a great reminder for all of us here, especially as we go into a new year. Right??
I hope you have an amazing month, I'll see you here again soon!
