This past weekend, I posted a photo to Instagram, and the words that I wrote to accompany it below the photo mean so much to me that I knew it had to be added to my blog today. Enjoy!
"This is exactly what you think it is. A wedding dress. But not just any dress - this was my wedding dress. Since our wedding day almost four years ago, I have had it hanging in a closet in our home. Yes, I really have. I decided today it's finally time to have it preserved and put into a box for my daughter to perhaps wear or borrow a piece from on her wedding day, however many years from now that will be. It is crazy to me how when I unzipped the bag and was looking at it fondly tonight, how all of the emotions and memories from our wedding day came rushing back. I must have tried on a hundred dresses before finding this one, but still it gives me such a sense of calm, which is crazy considering its just a dress. Since the day I put this on, my life has been forever changed. I am reminded when looking at it that the day I walked towards my husband in this, it was the day "I" fully became "we". It is so important that when you say "I Do", you truly know the meaning of those words, and make the commitment to be there to support each other, be each others rock and shoulder to lean on when life is hard, their first phone call when life hands them fabulous opportunities to take. A wedding lasts only for a day - but a marriage lasts for a lifetime. Let all that you do be done in love, to create the most fulfilling marriage you can. Accept each others differences, praise each others strengths, support each other always, and nurture your relationship to help it grow every day. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7"
...this still stirs my heart and makes me smile...happy planning!
