I have a thing for dates and seasons that harmoniously play into each other every year. There are those that remind you about wonderful days, those that remind you of the days that aren't so great, but more than anything else, there are the dates that you feel will always be a turning point in your life. This is going to be a long post, but I think that every single thing is necessary to share. So, here we go.
Have you ever had that moment where you don’t think you have the strength, and so you pray to God for help, and over and over again He fills your heart with courage to just say YES? From things that other people say to you in conversation, verses you happen to read, from that song that *just* so happens to be on the radio right at that moment, that things are happening way too many times for them just to be a coincidence any longer?
I think it is always so interesting to see and read about how people choose a word that represents what they hope the year will encompass. We are a few weeks into 2017 and I thought today would be the perfect day for sharing my reasoning behind choosing this one for the year. I've already noticed a difference in my general day to day and what I pay more attention to, so I am excited to have an entire year devoted to this, both personally and in my business.
Last year was a really big transitional year - from moving away from wedding planning (see more on that post here) to creating loved custom wedding invitation collections for so many amazing couples and also building my shop into what it is now (let alone raising two kids at home with me while all of this was happening too), it was filled with a lot of hectic, a lot of busy, and a lot of exhaustion, honestly. Even though my business turns seven this year (which is my lucky number, so it's got to be a good year!) in a lot of ways because of making the change from primarily wedding planning to wedding invitations + day-of items, there were a lot of new things I had to learn last year. Every day I worked on new ideas, new systems within the business and different details that I hadn't before.
I have started and restarted this post a dozen times in the last few months. However, I wasn’t able to write it fully because every single time, I have added to it or taken away and thought about it honestly way too much. So today, it is Monday, August 8th, and I am sitting at my computer with a blank canvas in front of me to write this post with whatever emotions come to my mind, and simply hit publish. Because sometimes, writing things as they come to you is better than coming up with trying to find the perfect way to say what you feel.
This year, in addition to the free monthly downloads, there will be a print that has a coordinating design, one that I feel symbolizes thoughts on the month ahead. And so this month, this quote by Helen Keller seemed absolutely perfect.
So many times, we start the new year wanting SO many things. More organization, more work, more life, more clients, more memorable moments, so so much.
Hooray! If you have been following me on Instagram, you saw a lot of sneak previews of my first ever collection that became available on Tuesday, October 13th, including encouraging cards for moms, prints for your home or office, and items to help with planning for your business and personal life. There are four smaller collections built into this one, and each one has their own unique story. I wanted to share a few of my favorite pieces with you here ... and I hope there is something in this collection that you love. Each collection has 12-20 different pieces in it, and each one was created using the same basis for design so that you can mix and match as you'd like, and create a cohesive look in your home.
It's funny how life takes you on one path, with many twists and turns along the way, until you finally realize exactly what it is that you have been created to do. I started my wedding planning business six years ago as an excited twenty-something who was wanting to create a business as a wedding planner and help so many couples on the Gulf Coast. I have had weddings from Mobile to SanDestin, and enjoyed every single one. However, over the course of these last six years, I have completely fallen in love with one particular aspect of the planning process, which has become a huge part of my business. It has brought out a completely different side of my creativity and I absolutely love it.
Hi all! I can not believe that it has been almost two months since I have blogged anything. I have truly, truly missed it, and am so glad to be typing away on my keyboard to you as we speak. I do think I have a pretty good reason for my absence ... I became a mama to the most handsome little fella in the world on February 20th of this year.
