The Best is Yet to Come ...

The things you are passionate about are not random, they are your calling.

It's funny how life takes you on one path, with many twists and turns along the way, until you finally realize exactly what it is that you have been created to do.   I started my wedding planning business six years ago as an excited twenty-something who was wanting to create a business as a wedding planner and help so many couples on the Gulf Coast.  I have had weddings from Mobile to SanDestin, and enjoyed every single one.  However, over the course of these last six years, I have completely fallen in love with one particular aspect of the planning process, which has become a huge part of my business.  It has brought out a completely different side of my creativity and I absolutely love it. If you follow me on Instagram, you already know this detail, even though it has only been shown here a few times here and there ... some wedding planners add the floral design process to their business, some add rentals, but I added paper design.  I have learned so much as a stationery designer for my brides in the last three years.  There is something so incredibly blissful for me to be able to plan a wedding and custom design all of the paper for it, knowing that every little detail that brides have wanted has been designed in the way they have dreamed of, sometimes even the night before the wedding as a last minute surprise final touch.

My love for design actually started way back when I was an elementary school teacher.  I loved creating cohesive designs and themes for my classroom, and every theme I had, I had coordinating newsletters, labels, and templates that I loved to make. I was that teacher.  When I started my business is when my love for design really began - I have always designed my website, my logo, and all of my business collateral, which is something I now pride myself on.  In the last three years,  I have taught myself graphic design, how to hear what a paper design client is hoping for in order to create designs that they love, and most importantly, I have found the style of design that makes my heart sing, where my own voice can be heard throughout, and which is also the style that I will be using moving forward. I still have so much to learn, but I am now also incredibly confident in my design abilities. Those of you that know me know that it is not like me to talk with that sort of confidence at all, but someone recently told me that as business owners, when you know what you're good at, sometimes you just plain need to shout it from the rooftops.

This year when I decided to open my paper design services up to all brides and started really working on designs I wanted to create both for wedding invitations and designs for my Etsy Shop, my heart has completely pitter pattered so many times with items I've been able to create, many of which have never been seen by anyone but my brides that are now spread out all across the country.  It has shown me time and again just how much I love this part of the wedding process, and am finally excited to announce the next step where I am going with it.

With the birth of my son in February, our life has changed completely, as has been evident in my lack of posting on this blog in the last couple of months.  I absolutely love writing, but between planning weddings and paper design, all while taking care of my two kids at home during the day as well, I am finding that my family needs me to make a choice between the two as my business continues to grow.  So with that said, I will no longer be planning any additional weddings other than the ones I am currently planning already, so that I can completely focus my attention on my amazing 2015 and 2016 couples, and also continue designing paper goods for brides as well.

To my current brides and grooms, you already knew this post was coming, and I so incredibly appreciate you all.  I want you to know that I will still take amazing care of you and that nothing with us will change.  You will still receive the service level that you have grown to expect from me, and I love that we have already started all of your journeys together, as now you are my final group of amazing couples I will get to work with and plan everything with.

The final wedding that I will be planning will be in August of 2016, and I already know that it will be bittersweet.  Does this mean that I am completely closing the door on planning weddings forever?  No.  I don't know when I will reopen the planning side of my business, but I do know that it will be when my kids are older so that I can enjoy these few precious years that I have with them, all while pursuing this paper dream of mine as well.

As far as my website, there will be some changes that come to it in the months ahead, but I have grown to love my business name and branding that I have worked so hard on in the years leading up to now, so there will only be minor adaptations that take place. From this blog, you can expect to see a lot more of the design side of me that I have been quietly hiding, along with a few new topics and categories that I think you're going to love. Oh yes...the planner side of me couldn't make any decisions until I had planned out exactly what was going to happen in the future with my little piece of the internet that has become one of my favorite spaces.

This post has been a long time coming, in all honesty.  I have written and rewritten it, scheduled it and put it back into my drafts folder the morning it was supposed to be published, and now I finally feel like the timing for this is right.  I attended Stationery Academy recently where this decision was only reaffirmed that it is the right choice to make - I was in absolute heaven being surrounded by gorgeous paper details at every turn, people that "get" my love for paper and fonts just as much as they do, and God making it oh so evident that the time has finally come to become the person He created me to be.  I feel like everything I have done in the last few years has led me to this.  I have to admit that a small part of me is completely afraid to not just dip my toes in anymore, but rather dive in headfirst to the world of paper as my business, but at the same time, writing this now has my heart skipping beats with excitement as to what the future holds.

So to my current brides and grooms, I hope you are ready to have me as your amazing wedding planner who wants your weddings to be some of the best and most fun planning times she has had yet, because this girl is planning on making the next year quite an incredible one.  And to those of you who are looking for a person to create custom paper goods for your wedding, you've found the girl who can't wait to start your paper design journey with you.

The best is yet to come...and I can't wait for you all to be a part of this with me.
