Faith + Encouragement

A New Journey

A New Journey

I have been keeping a secret for the majority of 2017.  And today, I very happily can tell you what that is.

Have you ever had that moment that has come before you, where you knew if you didn’t take the chance, it would lead to a life of wondering?

Have you ever had that moment where you don’t think you have the strength, and so you pray to God for help, and over and over again He fills your heart with courage to just say YES? From things that other people say to you in conversation, verses you happen to read, from that song that *just* so happens to be on the radio right at that moment, that things are happening way too many times for them just to be a coincidence any longer?

A Note of Grace: A Little Less Hustle, a Lot More Grace.

A Note of Grace: A Little Less Hustle, a Lot More Grace.

Instead of saying yes to doing more, expecting more of yourself, filling up every single second of spare time you have with other things, what can you say no to, that you can choose to fill your cup up with something else??  Something that will fill your heart with more joy, that perhaps has nothing to do with work?

A Note of Grace: Building your Life with your Business

A Note of Grace: Building your Life with your Business

Today is my first day back home from the 2017 Society for Creative Founders Conference, and my mind is still swirling with everything that everyone shared and was learned.  I was tremendously blessed to speak on the Core Module at this years conference experience, and I wanted to share a little bit of what I spoke on with all of you.   I feel that this small dose of encouragement delivered in these loved Note of Grace posts is still so needed by so many, so I hope you will all continue to join me in reading these posts.

Looking Back: A Note of Grace + A Year of Free Monthly Downloads

Looking Back: A Note of Grace + A Year of Free Monthly Downloads

I always think it is interesting to see where ideas take you, and how they change from something that you began to do, to see how it can morph and grow into something completely different than originally intended.

A little over a year ago, I designed a Bridal Shower invitation for a bride that I loved so much that I decided to turn it into a free digital download set for phones and desktops as well.   A few months in, I also began designing a scripture version to go with it. Once I started this, I gave myself the challenge to stick to it for a year and see where it took me, leaving it open-ended as to where it would be a year from then.   I have loved doing this for the last year, it has definitely been something that has taught me more about myself as a designer as well, while it unexpectedly encouraging me to continue to grow my faith!  Looking back, it was amazing to see which designs seemed to be the most popular and which ones I loved to design the most.  I loved putting together this collection below to see them all in one place. However, it also taught me something else that I wasn't expecting ...

Word of the Year for 2017: Nurture

Word of the Year for 2017: Nurture

I think it is always so interesting to see and read about how people choose a word that represents what they hope the year will encompass.  We are a few weeks into 2017 and I thought today would be the perfect day for sharing my reasoning behind choosing this one for the year.  I've already noticed a difference in my general day to day and what I pay more attention to, so I am excited to have an entire year devoted to this, both personally and in my business.

Last year was a really big transitional year - from moving away from wedding planning (see more on that post here) to creating loved custom wedding invitation collections for so many amazing couples and also building my shop into what it is now (let alone raising two kids at home with me while all of this was happening too), it was filled with a lot of hectic, a lot of busy, and a lot of exhaustion, honestly.  Even though my business turns seven this year (which is my lucky number, so it's got to be a good year!) in a lot of ways because of making the change from primarily wedding planning to wedding invitations + day-of items, there were a lot of new things I had to learn last year.  Every day I worked on new ideas, new systems within the business and different details that I hadn't before.

Free for You: September Phone and Desktop Downloads

Ah September.  The hot days of summer are winding down, kids are going back to school, and most importantly here in the south (in my husband's opinion), college football season begins again.

This month, I thought that a combination of a dark slate gray and a bold minty blue would be a perfect transition piece between summer and fall.  I'm not quite ready for the traditional fall season just yet, and these two have been begging to be used together, so voila!  Here you go!  I designed these with a similar feel to The Colorblock Collection that just launched in the Etsy shop a few weeks ago! Pairing bold and soft hues together is one of my favorites to do ... just wait until you see what's in store for the holidays! :)

Saying Goodbye to Wedding Planning ...

Saying Goodbye to Wedding Planning ...

I have started and restarted this post a dozen times in the last few months. However, I wasn’t able to write it fully because every single time, I have added to it or taken away and thought about it honestly way too much. So today, it is Monday, August 8th, and I am sitting at my computer with a blank canvas in front of me to write this post with whatever emotions come to my mind, and simply hit publish.  Because sometimes, writing things as they come to you is better than coming up with trying to find the perfect way to say what you feel.

You Make me Brave ... introduction to the "grace" series

You Make me Brave ... introduction to the "grace" series

As I sit here writing this post, the first "real" post on this brand new website, I'm not really sure yet what the end of it will look like.  Complete 100% truth.  I am about to start out with something completely new, something I've barely touched upon in posts in the past, but today is different.  It is a quiet Sunday afternoon, my kids are napping, and there is nothing but the sound of the washer and dryer running in the background.  This is my favorite time of the week, time that I've always spent in the past planning for the week ahead.  But - I have felt pulled and pulled and pulled to write this post, and so today, I'm finally saying okay.  Okay.  OK.  I can walk this path.  I can do this new thing.

Because You make me brave.
