t's wedding day for Shayna and Joe today! These two have such an amazing story together and have lived quite the adventurous life together already. I know that they are so excited that their wedding day has arrived, and their wedding is filled with amazing touches and memorable details that Shayna has created. They planned their entire Florida wedding all the way from Germany, and I have been so impressed with how Shayna has done everything. Today will be perfect and I am so happy to be a part of their day today!
Brie and Robert's wedding day has finally arrived! I know that I say this every time, but I am so excited for their wedding today. As always. :) Brie is one of the sweetest brides I know, and this entire time planning has just been fun. She and I have many things in common, including our love of Kate Spade and all things pink, and so that has definitely added to everything as we've been going along. Their wedding is one that I think will go down on my list as one of the prettiest I've ever had the privilege to be a part of, and an amazing way to finish out the year of 2015.
Of course, a great big thank you to Petra Huetzen Journalism and Photography for sharing their engagement photos and for traveling all the way from Germany, I can not wait to see how you capture their day!
So without further adieu, please read more on these two sweethearts, written from Brie's perspective ... and then I hope to see you back here at the blog after their wedding day to share some of the amazing details of the day!
How did you two meet?We met back in college. Robert used to walk me to my car after a night class each week. After graduation, we met up again at a committee meeting and started spending time together. Soon after, we were meeting every night.
When did you know that Robert was the one for you? I don't think there was one particular moment where I knew he was the one. Over time I realized many great things about him that I fell in love with. He is honest and loyal, kind, and would do just about anything for me. He challenges me intellectually and has helped me run and grow a business I started, that is now a joint venture. It has certainly been a fun journey.
How did he pop the question? Share all the details!
Last year, in October, we went on a trip to Hawaii. I hoped that he would pop the question at some point on the trip. We went to Oahu for four days and then to Maui. We had a wonderful trip and I woke up the last morning to a beautiful ring! Even though I hoped he would propose on the trip, I was surprised that morning. It was an amazing trip that I will always remember.
When is your wedding taking place?
Our wedding ceremony will be held at a catholic church in Pensacola, in the evening after dark, and our reception will be in downtown Pensacola. I wanted to be able to use beautiful candlelight at the ceremony. I've always wanted to get married at Christmas time. It is truly my favorite time of year. Having it at this time also allows our family to come and visit with us from Michigan. We are very excited about spending our first Christmas here in Florida after moving from Michigan twenty five years ago!
Describe your wedding in three words.
Sparkly, dazzling, and stunning
Now, share the details! Do you have a theme, or design, or feeling you want your wedding day to encompass?
We can't wait to see how it all comes together! Everything is white and blush. In addition, we are using metallic accents in gold, silver, and rose gold. Since the wedding is at Christmas, there will also be little pops of red in the details. We wanted it to have the feeling of being the holidays without being over the top.
Out of everything, what is the MOST important to the two of you on your wedding day (other than becoming husband and wife!)?
We really want to enjoy the day and have it represent us. We want to spend time with family and friends and celebrate our big day!
Do you have a favorite wedding blog or magazine? If so, what is it?
are two of my favorite magazines. I really enjoyed
blog as well.
What have you loved most about planning your wedding?
Everything! This has been such a fun experience planning our wedding. It will be so great to see all the details come together that day. Picking flowers, cakes, linens, and furniture were all fun. Searching and creating unique ideas to add personal touches has been the most fun!
What has been the most difficult part when it comes to planning?
Time. We work crazy hours, so the most challenging part to planning was finding time to meet with vendors. Having a coordinator was the best decision we made. There is no way we could've gotten everything we wanted doing it ourselves.
Have you always dreamed about your wedding day? Or, was the day you got engaged when you first started thinking about it?
I have always dreamed of my wedding day. I've always wanted to get married around the holidays too. Lucky for me, the timing worked out and I am getting the wedding of my dreams.
Are you going to celebrate with a honeymoon after your wedding? If so, where are you headed?
We are going on a honeymoon, and so excited about our adventure. We are headed to New York for New Years Eve. We've already gotten tickets for a party in Times Square to watch the ball drop.
What makes you most excited about becoming Robert's wife?
I am most excited about officially being married. Even though its a ton of work, I'm excited to change my name and truly be husband and wife.
When it comes to marriage and your life together, what are you looking forward to the most?
Our next project is to renovate our house. I am looking forward to making a home together.
Picture your lives five years from now. Where do you see yourselves, what do you see happening in your lives together?
We love to travel and see new places, so hopefully we are still exploring new cities and visiting our favorites. There are still a lot of places on our list. We have built a beautiful home together and are settled in.
Do you have any advice for newly engaged brides, or those in the middle of planning?
Try to enjoy every moment of it. Even when you are stressed, take a step back and realize that this is supposed to be fun! The time flies by and we have truly enjoyed planning our wedding. I'm glad that we had a little over a year to put everything together. It allowed us to take our time and enjoy the tastings, meetings, and shopping!
Congratulations on your marriage, and I am so excited to see it all come together, as I know you are too. Enjoy every moment of the day, it is going to be absolutely amazing!
These two. Seriously, Jessi is one of the sweetest, kindest, most excited and organized brides that I've worked with to plan a wedding day. I have only met Joseph once, so have primarily been planning with Jessi and her mom to create one gorgeous wedding day that you will not want to miss. These two have such a cute history together and I know they're so excited to be husband and wife. Instead of me continuing on, read below to learn more about this cute couple and their wedding day that will be here before we know it. Thanks also to Jeremy with Cook Images for sharing their engagement pictures, I can't wait to work with you again on their wedding day. How did you two meet? Joseph and I met in high school. Joseph was a senior and I was a junior. We had several mutual friends, but hadn't ever met each other. One night we both attended a school play, I was sitting at a table in front of Joseph, and in the middle of the play he started throwing paper balls at me... We chatted after the play and began talking more and more after that, and the rest is history!
Jessi, when did you know that HE was the one for you? It's hard to pinpoint the exact time. It was more of a gradual progression of things. It started to become second nature that he was always there, and when I couldn't imagine my future without him being in it, I just knew that he was the one.
Joseph, when did you know she was the one? I agree with her, it was just that comfortable feeling where everything flowed together so well. We never fight, and I reached the point where there was no other person I could see myself with. When i thought about the future, she was in it, and I just knew. When i told her i loved her for the first time, I kind of already knew that she was who I would spend the rest of my life with.
How did he pop the question? Joseph's birthday is October 8, so the weekend of October 10 I came home from college and Joseph said we were going to go out to the beach to have a birthday dinner with some of his friends at a nice restaurant. I didn't think anything of it honestly. We drove out to the beach and were meeting his friends at their condo at Portofino. We got to their condo and they said they were almost ready, for us to just wait out on the balcony. We walked outside and the sun was setting, and I was trying to take a picture of how pretty it was over the water. Joseph had walked to the ledge of the balcony and told me to come over there and to look down (we were at least 15 stories up). I looked down, and there was a huge sign that said "Marry me?" I turned around and Joseph was on one knee, pulled out the most beautiful ring I'd ever seen, and asked me to marry him! It was perfect and I was so surprised! He put so much thought into planning it and that made it even more special!
Share a few favorite things about your wedding day! We are getting married at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Pensacola, FL. I grew up in that church, so it's a very special place for me and where I have always imagined getting married. Our reception will be at 5eleven Palafox in downtown Pensacola. We chose that venue because we loved the rustic look of it and the history the building had. We are getting married in the beginning of August. To be totally honest, we picked that time of the year because we wanted to get married before football season started. Joseph and I both went to The University of Alabama, so getting married on a Saturday that conflicts with any SEC football game just wasn't an option! ;)
Describe your wedding in three words: Sweet, rustic, fun! Our colors are mint, gold, and shades of pink. We are incorporating lots of soft floral designs. We will have some vintage aspects, as well as some rustic themes.
Out of everything, what is the most important to the two of you on your wedding day (other than becoming husband and wife!)? I just want Joseph and I, as well as our guests, to have a really relaxed and fun time!
What have you loved most about planning your wedding? I loved that I have gotten to really express myself through my wedding decor and knowing that at the end of this Joseph and I will be married!
What has been the most difficult part? Deciding on colors to use was definitely the hardest part of the process for me.
Have you always dreamed about your wedding day? Or, was the day you got engaged when you first started thinking about it? Yes, I have always dreamed of it! I didn't have everything planned out, but I knew the style of wedding and reception I wanted.
Where are you headed for your honeymoon? We are heading to an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica! Neither of us have ever been out of the country, so we are really excited about that aspect. We wanted to go somewhere relaxing and tropical where we wouldn't have to worry about anything at all that week.
What makes you most excited about being Joseph’s wife? I'm really excited to spend everyday with him. I'm looking forward to all the little things like having a lazy day around the house as well as the big things like starting a family with him. We have been dating for close to five years now, so it will be great to take this step in our relationship.
Joseph, what makes you excited about being Jessi’s husband? Just starting the next step of our lives together. We've known for so long that we were going to be together that it's just a relief to be able to live together and be married.
When it comes to marriage and your life together, what are the two of you looking forward to the most? I think just getting to experience all of life's adventures together.
Picture your lives five years from now. Where do you see yourselves, what do you see happening in your lives together? We hope to still be in Pensacola, living in a home we love and have made "ours", and making plans for a family together.
Do you have any advice for newly engaged brides, or those in the middle of planning? My advice is to get everything done as far in advance as possible. That way vendors have openings, and you don't have to settle for something you'll be unhappy with. It's been great to be able to enjoy the last few months of our engagement without having to stress over those things. Another thing I highly recommend is hiring Kristin as your wedding planner! As soon as I met her, I could tell she just "got" me and what we wanted our wedding to encompass, which was such a huge relief and something I had been struggling with! I have no doubt she will make our wedding day as stress-free and as perfect as possible!
Jessi and Joseph, oh my goodness, I know that your guests are going to love everything that you have put together for them on your wedding day, and I am so glad to be a part of it! Enjoy the next few weeks together before you officially become each other's Mr. and Mrs.!
I am swooning with excitement for these lovelies upcoming wedding day ... they will be married in just a few short weeks, and we have had an amazing time planning together! Ashley and Ben are from Louisiana, so other than two in-person meetings, we have planned their day pretty much via phone calls and emails. It has gone amazingly well! Ashley and I both said pretty quickly after just a couple of weeks of working together, "we have this communication thing down pat". I am so excited for their wedding day, it'll be such a pretty one filled with family heirlooms and gorgeous details I can't wait to share with you. So for now, here's a little sneak preview of these two lovebirds and their story. Only a bit longer before these two get to say "I Do!"How did you two meet? We met through mutual friends in high school. I was a sophomore, and Ben was a senior.
Ashley, when did you know that HE was the one for you? When I saw the love he has for my family, especially my siblings. He truly understands how important my family is to me, and he loves them just as much as I do! It makes my heart smile just thinking about it!
Ben, when did you know she was the one? She went on a school trip to Washington DC, and I knew that's when I knew. I couldn't wait for her to get home!
How did he pop the question? We had been looking at rings for a while. I gave him three choices to pick from at a local jeweler. What I didn't know is that he took two of my choices and had a ring customized just for me (and it's perfect!). He asked me to marry him at our house, him and I.... Just how I wanted it to be!
Share a few favorite things about your wedding day! We are getting married in June on the beach at Margaritaville in Pensacola Beach, Florida. We always knew we wanted a destination wedding, but we knew it would be difficult for Ashley's elderly grandparents to travel out of the country. Ashley has very fond childhood memories of summer vacations in Pensacola Beach so we knew this would be the perfect place for us to share our special day with our closest family and friends.
Describe your wedding in three words: Classy, Elegant, Romantic. The wedding and reception will be very elegant and romantic with a vintage touch.
Out of everything, what is the most important to the two of you on your wedding day (other than becoming husband and wife!)? We want to be able to enjoy our guests who have traveled great distances to share such a special time in our lives with us!
What have you loved most about planning your wedding? I have loved having a wedding planner. Kristin has made the entire wedding planning process such an enjoyable, stress free experience!
What has been the most difficult part? The most challenging part (which hasn't even really been challenging) has been being 4 hours away from our wedding destination.
Have you always dreamed about your wedding day? Or, was the day you got engaged when you first started thinking about it? As far as my wedding day, I always knew I wanted a destination wedding, on a beach somewhere, at sunset. As far as themes, decor, colors, etc ... I didn't really think about it until we started planning.
Where are you headed for your honeymoon? We are going to celebrate in the Caribbean. We are torn between the Dominican Republic and the VIrgin Islands. We just want to go somewhere that is beautiful, where we can relax and not have a schedule.
What makes you most excited about being Ben's wife? I'm excited to experience life and everything it brings us with someone who loves me for me, always puts me first, and wants nothing more than to provide a great life for me. I can't imagine life with anyone else!
Ben, what makes you excited about being Ashley's husband? To share our life together, raise healthy children, and grow old together by eachother's side.
When it comes to marriage and your life together, what are the two of you looking forward to the most? Family vacations with our children, the every day chaos that comes with marriage and raising a family...everything from laundry and cooking to school functions and sports practices!
Picture your lives five years from now. Where do you see yourselves, what do you see happening in your lives together? We hope to be building our forever house, working in the professions that we love, raising happy and healthy children, and enjoying life and all it has to offer!
Do you have any advice for newly engaged brides, or those in the middle of planning? Hire Kristin! She has made this process so enjoyable. I couldn't do it without her! She is definitely making my "vision" come to life!
Ashley and Ben, I can't wait for your wedding day to be here! Enjoy these last few weeks as fiancées together!
Laura and David's wedding is right around the corner, and I am so excited to see these two tie the knot! We've been working together planning their wedding for a little over a year, and we have had a blast doing so! Every meeting we have had, Laura and David have both been there together every single time, and these two have such strong love and respect for each other in addition to having such an amazing sense of humor with each other that every meeting was always filled with laughter sprinkled in, as they are just plain fun to be around! Their wedding day is filled with fun personal touches and small details that will share their personalities with their guests and I can't wait for it to be here.
I am so excited to be sharing this with you today! One of the things I'll be adding to my blog in 2015 is sharing Love Stories with amazing couples that I am planning weddings with! I think this will be one of my favorite additions ... and I am hoping my couples will enjoy looking back at their pre-wedding memories in the future as well! The first pair of lovebirds I'm sharing with you for 2015 is Mary and Ricky! They are two of the sweetest people I've ever met. They live out of town, but Mary drives in monthly for us to meet in person. Every single time we meet, I leave our meetings with butterflies of excitement of things we are working on together, because she is just so excited about her wedding day! Goodness their wedding is going to be fun. And sparkly. And romantic. Just plain swoonworthy. Thank you to Megan of Southern Grace Photography for sharing the photos from their engagement session with me, and I can't wait to see what she captures on their wedding day!
Read about their love story below, and Mary and Ricky, enjoy these last few weeks of your engagement together!
Your Names: Mary and Ricky
How did you two meet? We hopped on the band wagon and met online!
When did you know that Ricky was the one for you? I would say less than a week of knowing him, I knew he would be the man I marry. I remember telling him that if we didn't get married, we had to be best friends. I'm so happy that I get to marry him AND he's my best friend!
Ricky, when did you know that Mary was the one for you? Around the same time she knew, I knew she was the one for me. It just made sense and was so easy being with her. If there are such things as soulmates, I knew early on she was mine.
Alrighty Mary. How did Ricky pop the question?? Were you surprised? Did you have any idea?? It was in the most magical place in the world, Disney World! We had been planning a trip for a few months and I had my suspicions that this trip was it, we were going to get engaged. I was so excited. So we made it to Disney and I started doing some digging. I asked him if I needed to paint my nails for anything and snooped around his luggage to see if he was hiding the ring in there and nothing. He didn't break a sweat! So I decided that this wasn't it and I was going to forget and enjoy my vacation. Well the next day we made a plan to go on my favorite ride first. We boarded the Haunted Mansion (I'm obsessed!) and about a minute into the ride, he leaned toward me and said, "Babe, I know this is your favorite ride and I want you to remember this forever. Will you marry me?" I was in shock!! I didn't even say yes at first! I just turned to him and said, "Are you serious?!" It was perfect.
When and where are you going to tie the knot? Our wedding is in late February at the Museum of Commerce in downtown Pensacola. When we were deciding what date we wanted, it took us a while to figure it out. I wanted it to be cold (I can't sweat on my wedding day!) and he wanted to make sure it wasn't close to Christmas, so we decided on the end of February!aa
Describe your wedding day in three simple words: Best. Day. Ever.
Now, share a few of the details! Do you have a theme or feeling your wedding day will encompass? There's going to be a lot of purple, pretty gold and lace! It's going to be unbelievable! I basically just put together all of my favorite things and it's turning out to be perfect!
Out of everything, what is the most important to the two of you on your wedding day, other than becoming husband and wife? Since the beginning it was really important to us to have all of our families and friends there celebrating. Our families live so far apart that most of them have never met! So we wanted to make our wedding really fun. It's the only time all of our family and friends will be together. It has to be epic!
Do you have a favorite wedding blog or magazine? Is Pinterest an option? Haha!!
What have you loved most about planning your wedding? I have to be honest, wedding planning is not my thing. I have so much respect for wedding planners! Without Kristin, I would be lost. My favorite part of the whole process was early on. We were deciding a venue and I was trying to tell Kristin what I was looking for. It was like she was in my head! She suggested a venue that would be perfect for us and told us how we could make it extra special. I was so happy, I cried!
What has been the most difficult part when it comes to planning? Planning a wedding is overwhelming. The most difficult part for me, was trying not to get too overwhelmed!
Have you always dreamed about your wedding day? Or, was the day you got engaged when you first started thinking about it? I had always known the colors I wanted but I didn't really know anything else until we were engaged.
Are you going to celebrate with a honeymoon after your wedding? We're going where it all began, Disney World! I can't wait! We're going to do all the things we did the first time.
Mary, what makes you the most excited about becoming his wife? I'm mostly excited for things to stay the same but get better at same time. I can't wait to continue to see him come home from work everyday but as my husband. It makes me giddy just thinking about it!
Ricky, what makes you the most excited about becoming her husband? Waking up to her everyday and figuring out life together. Having a team mate for the rest of my life!
When it comes to marriage and your life together, what are you looking forward to the most? Besides the obvious stuff, we're both looking forward traveling with the same last name. It seems silly but that will be our favorite part.
Picture your lives five years from now. What do you see?? We see a lot of adventures and so many new memories. In five years, starting a family and just enjoying every day together!
Do you have any advice for newly engaged brides, or those in the middle of planning? Don't panic! It's a lot. Just enjoy it. Enjoy every minute of it! Remember what it's all for. It's going to be great no matter what!
Congratulations Mary and Ricky, I am so excited for your wedding day to be here!
